Just a short post today. I'm still not feeling too well, but today is my favorite person's birthday. She's my cousin, but we are more like twin sisters (except she's the pretty one). Anyway, I wanted to do a card that reminds me of her so I picked this beautiful white rose and combined it with some soft and shiny pastels. I got the top part of the sentiment from Bird, this just fantastic blogger! Her creations are just fabulous. Thank you Bird!!! The flower is cut from a sheet out of the DCWV stack "Ciao Bella". There's a couple of stickles and some white organza ribbon from my stash. I used one of the Paper Lace Cuttlebug folders on part of the layering. The other embossing folder is by Sizzix.

Welcome to the CTV Challenge #4; "It's a Guy Thing" . The challenge will run January 27, 28 and 29. Mary will be giving away a set of stamps to the winner!!! Here's a picture of the stamp set this challenge is featuring. You know how hard it is to find the right saying for guys (big or little). This set opens up all kinds of great ideas. Please head on over to see what the design team came up with - the cards are just great! For my card I chose the "boys and their toys" stamp and made a little boy's birthday card.
I made the card front by gluing strips of patterned papers to a rectangle of green paper. I used papers from a pack of papers from Target. The package included pages themed around cars, planes and trains.
I chose these three sheets and cut strips that gave me the best selection of images. I had to cut off part of the train, but I think it still looks fine.
I had so much fun making this card. I got to use all kinds of brads and papers and I just love the bright primary colors. I stamped "boys and their toys" on craft card because it reminded me of all the boxes my son used to play with - you know when they play with the box and not the toy :) I attached two Lego brads to the craft card before popping it up on foam tape. I placed two cloud buttons, threaded with small slits of blue paper, to the top section.
I used a short piece of white mini ric rac to make the smoke from the train engine. I attached a metal tag that says "Birthday Boy" at the end. There's a hot air balloon brad and a pinwheel brad on the left side of the card,
I hope you stop on over to Mary's blog to look at all the "Guy Things" that my design team sisters have created. I know you won't be disappointed.
The brads and the Birthday Boy tag are from Eyelet Outlet & Brads. The papers from Target. The ribbon is from WalMart. The stamp from CTVS. I used StazOn Black ink for the sentiment, and Color Blok black chalk to edge the papers. The card measures 5.5" by 4.25".
Thanks for stopping by. I'd love to hear from you, so if you can leave a comment I'd smile a lot!!!!

16th Birthday Fashionista Purse
I made this purse gift holder for my granddaughter's 16th birthday. She's more goth than girly and her favorite colors are black and purple. I didn't mat the inside because she is going to use this as an autograph keepsake from her birthday party at Great America's FrightFest this weekend. Here's some pics and here's the link to how to make the purse.
I used a black ribbon to loop over a button for the closure on this bag.
The LOVE Square is a weld Home Accents Solutions and George, The Ha-P-Day is a weld from Smiley faces.

Birthday Card - 60 Years Young
I literally threw this together on the way out the door on Saturday. I'd forgotten about a cousin's birthday and it was pretty special one so I wanted something different. I knew he'd get all kinds of over the hill sentiments, and I wanted colors! So this still has the black and white balloons, plus other colors. Bonus: I entered it at the Celebrate The Occasion challenge #31 site.
Balloons are cut from George and Basic Shapes and "60" is from Black-letter.

Boy Birthday Card
I made this card for my grandson's birthday. I've had a package of "All Boy" brads forever. They are just so heavy and big I thought they would overpower a card, but this one brad worked out just fine for this card. The papers are from an old DCWV school pack. I didn't use the Cricut on this or the thank you cards -just a 3-M corner rounder, and a EK circle punch.
These were the basic cards I made for Paul to send out his "Thank You"s:

Birthday Card
I made this card for my dear, sweet friend Mary over at CardzTV. She is so super sweet and a great artist. I wanted to make a feminine card that had nothing to do with the Holiday season. I put roses, gems, glittery sheer ribbon, a cameo, and a beautiful butterfly (my friend June sent me) to try and make it as special as Mary is. I hope she likes it. HAPPY BIRTHDAY MARY.

OWH Birthday Card
Operation Write Home Stars and Stamps is the bloggers circle for the organization Operation Write Home. They offer tutorials, there is a cute circle card there now, and challenges as well as information about the cards for the men and women in the U S Armed Services. The current challenge is this sketch:
I chose to make a child's birthday card. Since glitter is not allowed, I always try to decorate the cards with other fun embellishments. These are Puff Stickers. They add dimension and imagery at the same time. If you don't make cards for a charitable organization but would like to, OWH is a great, great organization.

Flower Buttons
A few years ago, my DIL and I made a trunk full of doll clothes for my two granddaughters. I made the clothing for the 18" dolls and she made the Barbie doll clothing. I used to go to the fabric store and raid the remnant basket for fancy fabric, ribbons, lace and buttons to use for the doll clothes. I don't remember where I found this huge bag of assorted plastic buttons, but I use them all the time. They are gold and have tons of designs on them. For this card, I used a big gold sunflower to represent the sun, and three black roses. The golden stem on the roses is part of a Christmas tendril that I flattened. I made this card for the Paper Playtime Challenge.

Fussy and Fancy Friday Challenge
This is my first time to enter the Fussy and Fancy Friday Challenge 20 Mindy's Lovely Sketch. This week was to follow this sketch. Go check out the fantastic designs their design team and other entrants made. Wow! They'll blow you away.
I made a birthday card. You can never have enough especially with two teenage granddaughters that live with you. They always have friends with birthdays. I used blues, pinks, and white. I'd like to thank Diane over at http://capadiadesigns.blogspot.com/ She gave the inspiration for the border design. It allowed me to perfectly match the background paper and the border.
Thanks for stopping by, please leave a comment if you have a chance. I'd love to hear from you.
