Christmas Gift Project #2 - Mini Loaf Box

Here's my second paper boxed gift for this year.

I found the tutorial for the mini loaf box here.  The entire project is made with one sheet of 8 1/2" by 11"  red cardstock and one and one half sheets of green cardstock; I used Recollections papers.  I ran the red side panels through the Cuttlebug using the argyle folder.  A 1" wide strip of red cardstock topped with a 1/2" strip of green surrounds the contents.  I used Mary's CardTV Stamps "Merry Christmas" from the Classic Christmas set for the tag.  So, what is the contents of this box you say?  I  filled it with my Butterscotch Blondies.
Here are some pictures of the box in the making:

and here's the recipe:
Preheat oven to 375 degrees.
Butter and flour a 9 by 13 inch baking dish.

1 1/2 cups firmly packed brown sugar
1 cup unsalted butter
2 1/4 cups all-purpose flour
3/4 teaspoon baking soda
1/2 teaspoon salt
2 eggs (large)
1 teaspoon vanilla
1 1/3 cups butterscotch chips

Put the sugar in a large bowl.  Melt the butter in a microwave safe bowl.   Stir the butter into the brown sugar until a smooth batter forms.  Cool to room temp.  In a separate bowl, combine the flour, baking soda, and salt.  To the sugar/butter mixture, add eggs and vanilla.  Slowly add the flour mixture while beating until the batter is smooth.  Fold in the butterscotch chips.  Place batter into the prepared pan and bake for 20-25 minutes or until a toothpick comes out clean.  Cool, cut into squares.

Holiday Candy Snowman Hats

If you have never visited Scraphappy, I suggest you do.  Julie Moss is so talented.  She made the cutest Snowman Hat candy holders    Here are my renditions of the hat.  I used the cardboard tubes from the pastry tubes here to make these. My tubes were 2.5 inches in diameter.   I covered the bottom of the tube with a 2.75 inch circle of white card stock, folding the edges of the circle to adhere to the sides of the tube.  Then I covered the tube with a strip of black card stock.  Then I cut a 3.5 inch circle in black card stock and glued it to the covered bottom of the tube.  I found that attaching the ribbon band is easier to do before attaching the bottom circle.  Trust me there is a band of red and white polka dot ribbon around the hat.  I then threaded a white snowflake brad through a red and white polka dot flower and added a loop of sheer green ribbon to represent leaves. I attached the flower to the hat band with a glue dot.  I went around the brim of the tube with a black marker to hide the edge of the tube.

This was a fast and easy project.  I'm filling them with Andes Mints for treat cups to hand out at my son's office.  Thanks so much for stopping by.  If you have a moment, please leave a comment.  I'd love to hear from you.

Merlin's Treat Box

A Halloween treat container was project for the 1st the Let's Face It Friday Peachy Keen Challenge this week.  I made a treat cylinder using a TP roll and decorated it with die cuts from Cricut Paper Doll Dress up and Holiday Cakes cartridges.  I used the wizard cuts including the wizard, all layers of clothing and accessories from PDDU.  I cut the pumpkins, moon, and bat from the border features in Holiday Cakes.  I also used a flower cut from George and Basic Shapes to close the bottom of the cylinder. The designer paper (4" x 6"), card stock, gems, and star twine were from my stash  I used stickles (Broken China and Antique Line) on the wands.  I found the directions to make a TP candy cylinder at Sweet for My Sweets .

Since my grandchildren get so much candy Trick or Treating, I decided to fill the container with Halloween pencils I purchased at Michael's for a dollar. Thanks for stopping by and taking a peek.  Sue

Here are the sides of the tube:

The front featuring Merlin.  I wrapped the star twine around the pencils  to make it look like and explosion of magic.

...Merlin's partner the Owl...

...the back with pumpkins, moon, and back...

... and back to the front.

Here are the closeups of the stamped faces:

The Moon is angry because the Bat is trying to block her from the picture.LOL.
