Christmas Ornaments

I shop at Aldi's.  You have to save where you can save, so we buy at least 70% of our groceries there.  They have these Danish rolls that are so good.  They're from the refrigerator section and you unroll, stuff and bake.  Oh my warm blueberry danish is one of the family's favorites.  Anyway, enough about food.  I used parts of the can to make Christmas ornaments.  There is a small aluminum disk inside the can.  There is also a cardboard tube - but that's for a later post.

I used my Crop-A-Dile to punch a 1/8" hole in the rim of the disk, and threaded a 9" piece of jute as an ornament hanger.

After a few experiments, I found you can cut the circle from George at 1.9" actual size and it fits both sides of the disk. Using 3-M fast drying white glue it is easy to attach the paper to the disk.

Then I used scraps of this and that to decorate the disks. One has gold ribbon glued around the outside of the disk.  I probably won't do that one again.  The ribbon wasn't quite wide enough and the pleats don't lay flat.  The colored beads are from the dollar store.  They were 6 assorted color stands for $1.  You only use 9" a disk so you can a LOT from one group.  The pearls are just stung pearls that come from JoAnn's.  I used Prima poinsettias one one and white flowers from Michael's one another.  The deer and other punch outs were from my stash. 

If you decorated only one side of the disk, it could be used as a gift tag.  I'm entering this at Paper Cutz Challenge for their anything goes project challenge.

Folded Christmas Tree

There is this adorable table napkin here. I love the folds of contrasting fabrics and ric rac.

I tried to recreate a similar tree in paper.  However, I'm still working on the correct dimensions.  My top fold is too far down from the tree top.  I started with the banner half circle on the Cricut Stand and Salute cartridge.  I think I need to find a different half circle, but it is a work in progress...  I used green print and red dot papers glued together with white ric rac between them on the rounded edge.

What's Red, Black and White all over?

The Challenge at Paper Cutz Challenge this week, that's what.  "...challenge # 62, make a card, LO or craft project using red, black and white ONLY, and any theme you'd like."  I tried to keep this one really basic. Inspirations came from Shirley's beautiful Art Deco cards here.  I think I will give this card to my son so he can give it to his wife on their anniversary. The flourish is really two flourishes from Lyrical Letters that I welded together.  The heart is part of the flourish design.  I cut a second one in red, trimmed the heart out, then ran it through the Cuttlebug Swiss dots folder before adhering it to the black flourish.

The card measures 5" by 5"

There are two layers applied to the card front, the black stripes and white that I pt through the Cuttlebug using French Script.  I traced around the flourish and allowed about an half inch to border the design. That I cut by hand.

I stamped the inside of the card.  I  had the stamp in my binder and I don't remember where it came from.

The top right corner of the front is turned down.  The white flower is attached with a brad before gluing the corner down.

I wanted to mirror the flower on the front, but decided it would be to bulky to fold the corner down on the inside.

Focus on Orange

Paper Playtime is focusing on the color orange this week.  I tried to incorporate as many shades of orange as I could in my card "Mr. Pumpkin".  Maybe he will meet up with Mr. Turkey and enjoy trick-or-treating LOL.

Ooop!  Need to trim a string on the ribbon.

This is the pumpkin card on Wild Card combined with the top hat on ACY St. Patrick's Day cut.

I scrunched the ribbon and added foam glitter leaves and a cream sunflower.

Scraps

One day I was cleaning up after a project and I decided to use the leftover pieces of paper, ribbon and embellishments to make new projects.  It's fun to challenge yourself to create something from bits and pieces of craft supplies.
These are some of the things I came up with:

Bits and pieces of paper, ribbon, punched borders gold and pearl bling lead to these three A2 cards.

I have this border package by K and Company for the beach.  I combined pieces of the border, scraps of paper, a left over Cricut Whale cut, and some dew drops.

I had some left over acetate for the window.

Of course ever shell needs a pearl :)

This was my favorite.  I had a very small piece of the pink paper with a floral bouquet.  I combined it with another small piece of pink paper, left over ribbons and pearls.

I think it could be a birthday, thank you or even a get well card.

Cuttlebug Christmas

I took some Christmas papers and ran them through the Cuttlebug to make them textured.  I like the way the card turned out.  The ribbons for bows on the packages are from JoAnn Fabrics.  I got a bag of 24 for less than $2 in a sale bin.  I used Swiss dots and Snowflake Cuttlebug folders.
